Thursday 28-08-2025
Enrique Cerezo, the president of Atletico Madrid, made statements regarding the results of the UEFA Champions League draw for the 2025/2026 season, after he was unable to attend the draw ceremony in Monaco due to weather conditions that prevented the club's delegation from traveling.

In his remarks, Cerezo emphasized the importance of the new system for the tournament, stressing that every match carries significant importance and that the main goal is to win every encounter to ensure qualification among the top 8 teams in the tournament.

Cerezo said: "All Champions League matches have now become extremely important, and we must strive to achieve victory in every encounter."

He added: "The new system does not make qualification depend solely on the teams we face, but on the performance of all competitors, and therefore the primary goal is to be among the top eight teams."

He pointed out: "What happened last season with Paris Saint-Germain illustrates that the tournament is open to all possibilities, which makes it more exciting and thrilling."

He confirmed: "We are well aware of our competitors at the top level, Inter Milan and Liverpool, both of which are among the strongest teams in Europe. We faced Inter and Liverpool in recent years and achieved positive results, but the situation is different this time, and we will strive to repeat our successes."

He continued: "Arsenal is a very tough team, especially at home, and Eintracht is a strong opponent, and we hope to take advantage of the home factor in our encounters with them."

He added: "Bodo/Glimt is a rapidly rising team in Europe, and PSV has a lot of experience, so we will not underestimate any competitor."

He concluded his statements by saying: "Union Saint-Gilloise is a new team in this competition, but it is a competitor that deserves respect, and Galatasaray is one of the strong teams, especially at home, and we will be ready for all challenges."
