Belgian Federation Pursues Youssef Hamdawi.. Player Insists on Representing Morocco
Thursday 21-08-2025
The Belgian Football Union continues its efforts to convince the promising striker Youssef Hamdawi, a player for Royal Antwerp, to represent the "Red Devils" instead of Morocco, given his early brilliance on Belgian pitches despite not yet being 17 years old.

According to media reports, officials from the Belgian federation have once again contacted close associates of Hamdawi, presenting him with a comprehensive project aimed at enticing him to wear the Belgian national team jersey.

However, the young player, who has established himself in the first team of Antwerp, reaffirmed his commitment to the option of defending the colors of the Moroccan national team, confirming his ambition to reach the senior national team in the coming years.

Hamdawi's stance has closed the door on Belgium's temptations, which has expressed concern in its newspapers about losing another talent to Morocco, similar to Bilal El Khannous, Shams Eddin Talbi, and other players who chose to represent the "Atlas Lions".

Hamdawi has a contract with Royal Antwerp that extends until the summer of 2027, while the club is seeking to extend his stay amid increasing interest from other European clubs wishing to sign him.
