Rashford: Barcelona's Third Option That Could Revolutionize La Liga
Thursday 14-08-2025
The newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" revealed that FC Barcelona, led by its sporting director Deco, has sought for the second consecutive season to strengthen the left attacking side to ease the burden on Brazilian Raphinha. The primary target was Colombian Luis Díaz, but Liverpool's financial demands, which reached 75 million euros, along with the player's prior agreement with Bayern Munich, prevented the deal from being completed.

In contrast, Nico Williams was the backup plan, but negotiations yielded no significant progress and were deemed a waste of time and effort by the club's management.

Amid these developments, the name of Marcus Rashford emerged as a third option. Despite being an unwanted player at Manchester United, the newspaper noted that the English player possesses technical potential that may make him better than Nico Williams and on par with a player like Luis Díaz, if not better.

Rashford showed impressive performance during the pre-season preparations with Barcelona, demonstrating quickness, clear commitment, and high technical ability in playing within the penalty area. According to the newspaper, one member of the coaching staff likened Rashford's potential impact to what Jude Bellingham did in his first season with Real Madrid when he scored 23 decisive goals.

Rashford has previously scored 30 goals in his best season with Manchester United, and in a role similar to what Lewandowski provides, he could be a candidate to shine once again.
