Dutch coach Erik ten Hag, the manager of Bayer Leverkusen, confirmed that Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, now with Al Nassr, was not the reason for the problems faced during his time at Manchester United.

In a video interview, Ten Hag was asked about Ronaldo's current performance and his brilliance with Al Nassr, especially after scoring a 'hat-trick' in a recent friendly match, to which he responded: 'For me, Ronaldo was never the problem at Manchester United.'

The Dutch coach added: 'That is in the past, and after that, we won two titles with Manchester United. I wish him success in his future.'

Ronaldo had played under Ten Hag in the first half of the 2021-2022 season, a period marked by significant tensions between the two before the Portuguese star left the English club following a mutual contract termination.
