The English club Chelsea is nearing the renewal of its Spanish defender Marc Cucurella's contract, according to reports revealed in the past hours.

The reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Chelsea's management is currently preparing Cucurella's contract, indicating that negotiations between the two parties will soon enter an advanced stage.

Cucurella, who joined Chelsea in the summer of 2022 from Brighton, is linked to a contract that extends until 2028, but the London club is seeking to secure him with a new contract, amid interest from several clubs in signing him, most notably Al-Nassr from Saudi Arabia.

Romano explained that Cucurella feels happy within the Chelsea squad, and the club is keen to keep him as part of its sports project.

The player is 27 years old and participated in 54 matches with the team during the last season across various competitions, scoring 7 goals and providing 4 assists.
