The Police Remains Silent.. Its Players Depart Quietly!
Saturday 02-08-2025
The Iraqi Police Club is experiencing a critical period in the summer transfer market, amidst a severe hemorrhage in the first team, which puts the management and coach Moamen Soliman in a complicated position before the start of the new season, which carries local and continental challenges, most notably the AFC Champions League for elite teams.

Despite the team's success in winning the Iraqi Stars League title for the fourth consecutive time, the journey of titles has collided today with a different reality, after a significant number of the team's pillars departed, either due to their remarkable performance that attracted the attention of other clubs, or due to technical decisions issued by the coaching staff.

Special sources indicated that Police players have become prime targets for local clubs, due to their high technical capabilities and international experience with the Iraqi national team, especially after many of them were recently called up by Australian coach Graham Arnold, which significantly raised their market value.

Among the most notable names that have already left is Moroccan defender Ayoub El Moudane, who transferred to Al-Karma Club after receiving a financial offer that exceeds what he was earning with the Police, in addition to his teammate Sajad Jassim, who also preferred Al-Karma's offer.

In another blow, the club failed to renew the contract of international defender Akam Hashim, one of the key pillars in the backline, who officially transferred to Al-Zawraa Club with an enticing contract that exceeds his previous salary at the Police by 25%, according to sources, forcing the management to urgently search for new defensive alternatives to play alongside Manaf Younis.

As for striker Mohanad Ali “Mimi,” his situation remains unstable; despite his declared desire to stay, he is surrounded by external offers, in addition to a very tempting offer from Zakho Club, which is trying to attract him at any cost, raising concerns for coach Moamen Soliman, especially with the approaching date of the Iraqi Super Cup match.

Despite all these challenges, the management of the Green Lyre has chosen silence and not to escalate, while preparing what sources described as “alternative plans” to overcome this difficult phase. The first step the management is working on is renewing the contracts of the remaining core players to maintain technical stability, while simultaneously opening the door for any player who does not wish to continue.

Although the shock that has hit the team may seem alarming, there is optimism within the club that the current crisis will turn into an opportunity to rebuild the team on more solid foundations, especially as the management seeks to conclude quality and strong deals during the remainder of the transfer market, in preparation for a season that carries wide fan aspirations, most notably achieving a commendable participation in the AFC Champions League.

While the Iraqi sports community monitors the fate of the Police and its developments, the ball remains in the management's court, which will be tested on its ability to maintain the identity of the champion team and spare the club from entering a spiral of losing balance, especially with the presence of a coach who has proven his ability to make a difference if provided with the necessary tools.
