Jesus: I Refused the Brazil National Team Due to Al-Hilal, and I'm Here Because of Ronaldo
The Portuguese Jorge Jesus, the new coach of Al-Nassr, revealed that if it weren't for the invitation from his compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo, the captain and striker of the team, he would not have agreed to coach the club.
Jesus said in press statements: "Ronaldo is a player who has always won everything wherever he played, but not in Saudi Arabia yet. I will see if I can help him this year."
He added: "I love being in Saudi Arabia; it is the country of the future, in football and beyond. I am happy to be back; I have always been very happy here, and I have always achieved victory, and now I will try to repeat that."
When asked about the impact of his previous coaching stint with rivals Al-Hilal, he replied: "I was always treated well at Al-Hilal, and I have no reason to complain. This is the life of a coach; I will return through the competitor, and it is similar to moving from Benfica to Sporting Lisbon."
He continued: "I could not refuse the challenge that Cristiano presented to me. Last year, I made a mistake by rejecting the Brazil national team project; I did not want to go because I was completely interested in Al-Hilal."
