Gulf Club Announces Departure of Six Players and Prepares to Strengthen Its Roster
The management of Gulf Club has announced the termination of contracts for several players from the first football team, including four foreign players, in addition to two local players, as part of a step to restructure the squad for the upcoming season.
According to what the club published on its official account on the 'X' platform, the management has ended its relationship with Portuguese player Fabio Martins, Bosnian Ibrahim Sehic, Egyptian Mohamed Sherif, and Austrian Thomas Morg, along with Saudis Abdullah Al-Salem and Khaled Al-Sameeri.
Striker Abdullah Al-Salem, the team's top scorer, has officially signed with Al-Qadisiyah, while the Gulf management is working to compensate for the number of departures by making new foreign signings in preparation for the upcoming season.
It is worth mentioning that the club's management decided to keep Greek coach Georgios Donis at the helm of the coaching staff, despite the team finishing last season in twelfth place in the Roshan Saudi League with only 37 points.
Last season, Gulf played 34 matches, winning 10, drawing 7, and losing 17, with its players scoring 40 goals, while 57 goals were conceded by the team. They also exited the King's Cup after losing to Al-Taee with a score of 2-5.
The team's training will commence on July 17 at the club's stadium in Al-Sehat, before traveling to the Netherlands on the 25th of the same month for a preparatory camp that includes four friendly matches, in preparation for returning to the Eastern Province on August 14.
