Mariska: We Want to Win the Title, This is My Opinion on Real Madrid and PSG
Chelsea coach Enzo Mariska appeared in press statements after the 2-0 victory over Fluminense in the semi-final of the Club World Cup on Tuesday evening.
The coach said about reaching the final: "It's a wonderful achievement. It's been an amazing season: fourth place in the Premier League, winning the Europa Conference League, and now we are in the final of this tournament. We are very, very happy."
Regarding Joao Pedro's brilliance and scoring two goals in the match, he added: "We know we have players capable of making a difference, and we know we need to help them be in positions that allow them to shine. Joao has proven he can do that."
On Nicolas Jackson's participation in the second half, he clarified: "Nicolas is our player and our main striker; he played most of last season's matches. Today Joao started, but (Jackson) was also ready."
About the competition within the team, Mariska said: "I am very happy, honestly, because I know how difficult it is to go through this many matches. Reaching the semi-finals in the Premier League, winning the Conference League, and now the final here... it's amazing."
He talked about the overall condition of the team: "We treat each match individually, and now we have one last match of the season, and we hope to finish it by winning the title."
Regarding Moises Caicedo's injury, he said: "I told him he must do everything possible to be ready to play on Sunday, and we'll see what happens."
He concluded by discussing the final opponent, whether Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain: "Both are among the best teams in the world. One won the Champions League this season, and the other won the European title last season. They are great opponents, but we are proud to be in this position and happy to have reached the final."
