Ribeiro: We want to win against Porto even if we don't qualify
Spanish coach José Ribeiro of Al Ahly confirmed the importance of winning against Portuguese Porto tomorrow morning, Tuesday, in the third and final round of the group stage of the FIFA Club World Cup.
Ribeiro stated in media remarks: "What happened during the tournament was not the scenario we planned for qualifying for the next round."
He added: "We will enter the match against Porto with hope that does not depend solely on us, but is also linked to the result of the other match."
He explained: "We need to focus on what we can present in this confrontation, and then see what happens next."
He continued: "We have great motivation to achieve victory, not only for qualification but also to please our fans who were hoping to see the team advance in the tournament."
Ribeiro concluded: "We want to play against Porto when they are at their best; this is the competitive football we enjoy."
