Neuer expresses happiness with Bayern Munich's victory
Manuel Neuer, the goalkeeper and captain of Bayern Munich, expressed his happiness with the victory his team achieved against Boca Juniors with a score of (2-1) in the second round of the group stage of the FIFA Club World Cup, pointing out the importance of the three points and securing early qualification for the knockout stage.
Neuer said in statements to the club's official website: "I think we are the first team to defeat one of the Latin American teams, the result is the most important, we were the better side in the match and did not give them many chances. Facing South American teams is always complicated, and we saw that today."
He added: "We are happy to have achieved 6 points at the start of the tournament. We managed the danger well in the first half, and although Boca's goal revived the enthusiasm of their fans and made the atmosphere loud, we maintained our calm and controlled the situation."
He continued: "We will enter the match against Benfica with high confidence, aiming to continue delivering a strong performance and collect the three points."
Regarding the anticipated departure of his teammate Leroy Sane to Galatasaray in July, he said: "The decision was in his hands, and it is unfortunate to lose a player of Leroy's caliber. I enjoyed playing with him and will miss him a lot. Despite his impending departure, he is still giving his all in training and showing his high professionalism; he is still playing hard for the team."
