The Italian League has announced the postponement of the return leg in the Serie B relegation playoff between Salernitana and Sampdoria to next Sunday, after several Salernitana players suffered from food poisoning.

Eight Salernitana players were hospitalized after returning from Genoa, where the team lost to Sampdoria 2-0 in the first leg, prompting the club's management to request the postponement of the return match, which was scheduled for Friday.

The league confirmed that the match will take place on Sunday at 9:30 PM Cairo time, and the newspaper 'La Gazzetta dello Sport' reported that the police have opened an investigation at the team's hotel in Genoa, after the players consumed rice meals before traveling.

It is worth noting that Sampdoria entered this playoff after Brescia was penalized with a four-point deduction and relegated to the third division, while the latter did not appeal against the penalty, paving the way for the club's liquidation after 114 years since its establishment.
