Mourinho Pursues Al Hilal Star.. and Fenerbahçe Faces a Million-Dollar Hurdle
Fenerbahçe has taken its first steps to acquire Serbian star Sergej Milinković-Savić from Al Hilal, as they have entered direct talks with his agent, Mateja Kežman, in an attempt to reach a preliminary agreement.
According to what was published by the Turkish newspaper "Sözcü", the deal faces a significant financial obstacle, as Al Hilal values the player at 15 million euros, while Milinković-Savić earns a hefty annual salary of 25 million euros, complicating the negotiation process.
Portuguese coach José Mourinho, who is in charge of Fenerbahçe, is pressuring the management to sign players in various positions, including center-back, left winger, striker, and goalkeeper, alongside a strong midfielder who excels as a defensive pivot.
Mourinho has shown special interest in signing a midfielder capable of supporting Brazilian Fred in the midfield, which has placed Milinković-Savić at the top of the transfer list, especially with his ability to play efficiently in both the sixth and eighth positions.
The Turkish management is trying to reduce the financial value of the deal and has presented an alternative offer extending over three years, totaling 10 million euros, aiming to entice the player and pressure Al Hilal to lower its demands before Milinković-Savić's contract expires in a year.
