Saturday 14-06-2025
Benfica's president, Rui Costa, shocked Real Madrid fans regarding the deal to sign young full-back Alvaro Carreras, confirming that there is no agreement between the two clubs so far.

Recently, Spanish media reported that Real Madrid was close to finalizing the deal, before the royal club shifted its focus to its upcoming participation in the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, leading to a decrease in discussions about Carreras's transfer.

In statements highlighted by the newspaper 'Marca' on Saturday morning, Rui Costa said: 'There is no agreement with Real Madrid regarding Carreras; the player will stay with us for the Club World Cup and is still part of the team.'

The Benfica president added: 'Carreras is fully focused on the tournament, and we have already received some offers for him, but we have not been convinced by any of them so far.'

Costa's statements indicate that Carreras's future remains open, with interest from several clubs, awaiting the developments of the upcoming transfer market.
