Hervé Renard: We Will Go to the World Cup in October
Hervé Renard, the coach of the Saudi national team, expressed his confidence in the Green's qualification for the World Cup finals through the playoff.
The Saudi team lost to their Australian counterpart today with a score of 2-1 in a match within the tenth and final round of the third round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
Renard said in the press conference after the match: "We played against a difficult and strong team in physical confrontations and defensive organization. We missed many opportunities in the qualifiers, and we missed three penalties in Jeddah. Overall in the qualifiers, Japan and Australia were the best; we need to focus on the playoff and prepare for the Asian playoffs."
He continued: "Kaddash did not participate in the last two league matches and we had to preserve the players. Hassan did not participate because he has a yellow card, and if he gets another one, we might miss him in the Asian playoff."
He concluded: "The match was as we expected; it was strong in terms of physicality. The players' reaction was good, and now the focus will be on the CONCACAF tournament and the playoff in October, and God willing, we will go to the World Cup in October."
