Reece James: We had to win the title, and that's what I told the players
Chelsea defender Reece James spoke in a press statement after winning the UEFA Conference League title against Betis (4-1) in the final.
The English defender said: "It's a great feeling. As the match progressed, we adapted to it, and fortunately, we scored four goals in the second half."
He added: "We had to win the tournament. Next season we will participate again in the Champions League."
Regarding his non-starting role: "Of course, it's disappointing to know that you won't be starting in a final match. I want to play every game, but the decision was the coach's. Once the decision was made, I had to accept it and be ready when needed."
About his words to his teammates at halftime: "I thought we weren't good in the first half, the game wasn't in our favor at the start, and it seemed to drain our energy. We needed a reaction in the second half, and we did that."
