Gamal Abdel Hamid: Pyramids Did Not Take Zamalek's Place
Gamal Abdel Hamid confirmed that Pyramids has not taken Zamalek's place, but it has become a direct competitor to Al Ahly for titles.
He added during the "Al Laeeb" program on MBC Masr: "Pyramids has not taken Zamalek's place, but has become a direct competitor to Al Ahly. Who was consistently appearing in the final of the Egypt Cup? Al Ahly, but now Pyramids is the one present in the final, which shows that Pyramids has taken Al Ahly's place.
He continued: "The same applies to the African Champions League. Al Ahly was a constant participant in the final in recent years, and now Pyramids is competing for the title. Zamalek finished the league in third place, a position that Al Ahly only occupied when Pyramids took the second place from them. Therefore, it is clear that Pyramids has taken Al Ahly's position in the competition, not Zamalek's.
He added: "When Ismaily was competing strongly, no one said it took Al Ahly or Zamalek's place, but it was said that the competition became between three teams.
He concluded his statements: "Everyone knows that Zamalek is going through difficult circumstances, but we continue to achieve titles. This is one of our worst seasons; it is true that we lost most of the titles, but we reached the Egypt Cup final and were part of the league race until the last weeks. So is there any doubt that we are a team of titles?".
