Inter Milan President: We Are an Ambitious Team, Up to the Challenge
Monday 26-05-2025
Giuseppe Marotta, the president of Inter Milan, confirmed that his team must be ambitious before facing Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final, emphasizing that the Nerazzurri are up to the challenge despite the significant financial gap with their French opponent.

Marotta spoke during Inter's media day ahead of the anticipated final in Munich on Saturday, which represents the team's only chance to end the season with a title, after being eliminated from the Coppa Italia and losing the Serie A title by a point to Napoli.

Marotta said about reaching the Champions League final: "It is a source of pride and satisfaction for us, this is the second time in recent years, and it is the result of hard work and the spirit of belonging that everyone at Inter has shown."

He added: "The greatest credit goes to our coach, but also to the team, the management, and the new ownership that has shown great intelligence. They have supported us in our operations with a constant but silent presence, without any interference."

He continued: "We started this season with the goal of achieving something important and exceptional, and we have done that. Reaching a second final in three years is amazing, and I can almost say it is difficult to replicate."

He went on: "We do not want to overlook other tournaments; we reached the semifinals of the Coppa Italia and were very close to the league title. I congratulate Napoli; we were just a centimeter away, and that is the difference that decided everything."

He added: "I would also like to point out that we played 19 additional matches compared to our competitors, which is equivalent to a full round in Serie A."

He confirmed: "This means a huge consumption of energy, and the physical aspect becomes crucial. Nevertheless, our coach has led us to experience this exciting moment. It is my first time as president, and we have reached here after overcoming teams like Bayern Munich and Barcelona."

Regarding facing Paris Saint-Germain, he said: "Inter has a rich history; this is its seventh European final, and we want to be the champions of the scene."

He noted: "In sports, you should not be arrogant; rather, you should be ambitious. Arrogance leads to nothing; ambition, on the contrary, reflects the spirit of belonging and the desire to win."

He added: "We know we will face a club with a great status and immense financial power, but we are up to the task, and we know we can be an active party. The journey has been full of obstacles, but we have earned our place here."

He concluded his statements by saying: "I hope it will be a wonderful match, a strong showcase for Italian football, which is in dire need of it. I hope it will be a beautiful evening, and that we crown it with something exceptional to bring joy to ourselves, to the club, and to our fans who have always stood by us."
