Monday 26-05-2025
The German club Bayer Leverkusen has officially announced its contract with Dutch coach Erik Ten Hag to lead the first team, as the 55-year-old coach signed a contract that extends until June 30, 2027, with his official duties starting with the preparation period for the new season on July 1, 2025.

Ten Hag had previously coached Manchester United in the English Premier League, achieving two titles with the team: the English League Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.

Simon Rolfes, the sporting director of Bayer Leverkusen, stated that the club chose a coach with extensive experience and a successful track record, referring to the achievements Ten Hag had with Ajax Amsterdam, which included three league titles and two cup titles between 2018 and 2022.

In addition to his successes with Manchester United despite the difficult circumstances, he confirmed that the club's vision aligns with the coach's ideas regarding presenting attacking and technical football and competing at the highest levels both domestically and in Europe.

For his part, Ten Hag expressed his happiness with the new challenge, affirming that Bayer Leverkusen is one of the best clubs in Germany and has a distinguished position at the European level, praising the working conditions within the club and his discussions with the officials.

He clarified that he came to Leverkusen with the aim of continuing the club's growing ambitions and working on building an ambitious team in a new phase of the sports project.

It is noteworthy that Xabi Alonso, the former head coach of Bayer Leverkusen, left the German team to take over the coaching of the Spanish club Real Madrid.
