Bernardo Silva's Comments After FA Cup Final Loss
Saturday 17-05-2025
Manchester City player Bernardo Silva appeared in press statements after the team's 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final held this evening.

The player said: "It was extremely disappointing for us, we played against a strong team, and we knew that before the match. They defend with a very low defensive block and are patient in their defensive approach to prepare for counter-attacks."

He continued: "We lacked some quality in the final third of the pitch to finish our game. We had a penalty and three or four chances, but they deserved it today. Well done, Crystal Palace."

Regarding whether Dean Henderson deserved a red card, he said: "Honestly, I didn’t see the incident, but I heard he touched the ball with his hand outside the penalty area, but I need to see it to give my opinion."

On why Erling Haaland did not take the penalty: "I don’t know. Usually, Erling [Haaland] is the one who takes it, but they decided that Omar [Marmoush] would take it. I wasn’t part of the decision, so I’m not sure what happened; missing penalties can happen. It wasn’t the main issue - of course, it was important, but we had other chances."

About Kevin De Bruyne after playing his last major final with Manchester City: "It was sad that we couldn’t win for him. We wanted to give him this, and he deserves it, so it’s a bit sad. I can’t imagine achieving all this success without him; he is a dear friend to me, and I’m saddened by his departure. I hoped and wished he would stay longer, but that’s life. I wish him all the best."
