Maysan Oil Coach: Al-Zawraa Was the Best and We Need to Review Ourselves
Maysan Oil coach, Hussein Abdul Wahid, expressed his reservations about his team's performance after losing to Al-Zawraa by two goals to none, in the match held at Maysan Olympic Stadium as part of the 33rd round of the Iraqi Stars League, confirming that the team did not show the required form against a strong and organized opponent.
Abdul Wahid said in a statement after the match:
"Honestly, we did not present the level we aspire to today, and we made mistakes in positioning and transitioning, especially in the first half, which cost us an early goal that changed all the calculations."
He continued:
"Al-Zawraa is a complete team with distinguished elements, and their players know how to exploit opportunities. We tried to come back in the second half, but the early second goal confused us even more, and even after the expulsion of one of their players, we could not benefit from the numerical advantage."
He added:
"This match should be an important lesson for us, especially in terms of defensive organization and speed in transition. We have a group of good players, but we need to work on the mental aspects and focus throughout the 90 minutes."
He concluded by saying:
"We still have several important matches ahead of us, and we will work to quickly correct the mistakes in order to return to the right path and finish the season in an acceptable position."
