Slot: The Fans Have the Right to Express Their Opinion, and It Was a Wonderful Match
Sunday 11-05-2025
Liverpool coach Arne Slot appeared in press statements after the 2-2 draw against Arsenal in the 36th round of the Premier League.

The coach said: "It was a wonderful football match, and fans around the world and in the stadium enjoyed what they saw. It wasn't too important as the league table is clear, but it is about prestige. A team like this can cause you significant damage, as happened with Chelsea last week."

He added: "After winning the league, you always wonder about the team you will face, but I liked the team I faced. We launched some good counter-attacks. Arsenal scored a direct goal in the second half, then I brought in Diogo Jota as an additional striker, and we nearly won the match."

He continued: "Connor Bradley put in a great performance. I know how good these players are, but I love seeing the mentality they showed today. They performed wonderfully."

Regarding the boos directed at Trent Alexander-Arnold: "The beautiful thing about life in Europe is that everyone has their opinion, as is the case in Liverpool, everyone has their opinion, and as the end of the match approached, the positivity of the fans increased. For me, it’s simple; I owe it to the fans to play in front of a team capable of winning. Trent proved why he was included; he made two or three great passes inside the penalty area."

He concluded: "For the fans, they can always get the reaction they want, but I will always support the players I lead and who wear the red shirt. I will support them no matter what. First, they sang for Steven Gerrard, which is beautiful, then for Connor Bradley, but when Trent took a free kick, more people were positive towards him, wishing for him to score, compared to those who booed him. It wouldn't be fair to only focus on the Liverpool fans who booed. If they want to, that’s fine, but there were many people who were positive towards him too."
