Arteta: What We Presented in the First Half is Unacceptable
Sunday 11-05-2025
Mikel Arteta, the head coach of Arsenal, expressed his dissatisfaction with his team's performance in the first half of the match against Liverpool, which ended in a 2-2 draw, as part of the 36th round of the Premier League.

Arteta said: "What we presented in the first half was not up to the required level, and it was unacceptable for us to show in such a manner, although the response in the second half was fantastic, it does not compensate for what happened at the start."

He added: "If you want to compete for titles, you have to maintain a high level all the time, whether you win or lose, it’s not just about the result, but about the performance, there are 6 or 7 teams competing strongly for qualification to the Champions League next season."

He continued: "What we showed after the 20th or 25th minute of the match reflects what we are working on, and when the team shows up in this way, the responsibility falls on me."

Arteta concluded his statements with a clear message, saying: "It’s not just about the players, but about all of us as a coaching staff, no one accepts those standards, we have played six matches this season with ten players, and yet we have shown a strong character, and this shows what we can do if we are at our best."
