Palmeiras President: We Will Approach Every Match in the Club World Cup with Maximum Seriousness
Leila Pereira, the president of Brazilian club Palmeiras, a competitor of Al Ahly in the Club World Cup, confirmed that her team will not come to the United States for a stroll and will approach every match in the tournament with the utmost seriousness.
Palmeiras' group in the Club World Cup includes Portuguese Porto, Egyptian Al Ahly, and American Inter Miami.
Pereira stated through CNN: "It is an honor for Palmeiras to participate in the upcoming edition of the Club World Cup. Palmeiras is the only club from São Paulo that will be present in the tournament."
She added: "Palmeiras will not go to the United States for leisure; we will approach every match with maximum seriousness, as we do in every tournament we participate in. We will treat the tournament match by match."
Regarding the difficulty of the group due to the participation of Argentine star Lionel Messi, Pereira commented: "We have a strong and ambitious group, and we are ready for the tournament. We have no problem playing against Messi or anyone else; they will be the ones playing against Palmeiras, and we are prepared."
