Ancelotti: I may leave Real Madrid, and I won't talk about the referee
Sunday 27-04-2025
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti appeared at a press conference after losing the Clasico against Barcelona 3-2 after extra time at La Cartuja Stadium.

The coach said: "It was a good match, and we competed well. The first half was more complicated, but we were better in the second half, we controlled the game, then they put the ball behind us to score the second goal, making the match more complicated. The team played well, and we almost won, but we must continue to fight. I have nothing to blame the team for. If we had won, it wouldn't have been a scandal because we were better than our opponent in the second half."

He added: "We defended well, without trying to break the press at the beginning. It wasn't easy, as when they have energy, they press hard. When they eased the pressure, we controlled the ball better and played wonderfully in the second half."

He continued: "I feel the pain because we couldn't lift the trophy; there is nothing to complain about because we did everything we could."

He said: "I preferred to bring on Mbappe in the second half when the pace of the game slowed down a bit. He came on as a substitute brilliantly, scored the equalizer, and had many chances; he can't play 90 minutes, which is why I preferred to bring him on in the second half."

Regarding the moment of Barcelona's third goal: "Ibrahim Diaz thought Luka Modric could pass the ball behind his back, but Modric played a short pass; these details may cost nothing, and sometimes they cost a lot."

About his future: "I can continue or leave; this is a question that will be asked in the coming weeks."

On the referees of the match: "I don't want to talk about the referee."

Regarding the substitution of Rudiger: "He had a great match and held on until the end. I appreciate his efforts, and his performance was amazing. He wasn't injured; he was just exhausted and couldn't run any more."

About the red cards given to several players in the final moments of the match: "I don't know what happened; we have to wait and see what will happen, and I don't know. Now we have to wait and see. We will rest for two days to prepare for the matches against Celta Vigo and Barcelona."
