Amorim: It's Hard to Determine This Matter, Facing Lyon is Important
Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim appeared in press statements after the 4-1 loss against Newcastle United in the 32nd round of the Premier League.
The coach said: "We made too many mistakes. Newcastle were stronger in the second balls. We made many errors that made it difficult for us to win the match. That's all."
Regarding the reasons for the defeat: "It's a mix of everything. It's hard to pinpoint one reason. It's really difficult to win against big teams like Newcastle. And when we make mistakes that help the opponent, things become more challenging. Let's focus on Thursday's match."
On the defensive mistakes: "I think it's clear that we are capable of performing much better. That's all. We need to focus on Thursday's match, and all the mistakes we made today should not be repeated on Thursday."
He added: "I understand the criticism, but I don't care about it. Nothing is worse than losing matches. People can say what they want. I don't want to defend myself or anything like that. If you look at our position in the league table, you'll understand everything."
About facing Lyon: "Thursday's match is extremely important. Losing matches is the hardest part of this job, by a significant margin. Let's focus on Thursday; we have a chance to reach the Champions League. It's a tough match, and we need to concentrate to qualify for the next stage. We've had a season full of tough losses, but we're used to getting back up again. Let's do that on Thursday. It's a different match, and we need to give something to our fans and reach the next round."
