Flick: I Live My Best Moments in Barcelona, and I Refuse to Think About the Future
Friday 11-04-2025
Hans Flick, the head coach of FC Barcelona, spoke about several important matters concerning the team during the press conference preceding the match against Leganés in the upcoming round of La Liga. The German coach confirmed that the team is in good physical and mental condition, emphasizing that the focus is currently on finishing the season in the best possible way.

Flick said: "I spoke with the coaching staff, and the most important thing is that we all speak the same football language. When we came to Barcelona, we had a clear idea of attacking play and high pressing, and everyone supported it without hesitation. This is wonderful, especially for me."

He added: "Just look at Iñigo's adaptation. He is one of the most important players on the team this season because he is a leader both in the locker room and on the field, and he gives everything for the team."

Flick continued: "The team is not made up of just 11 players, but 26 players. Even the injured players are part of the system. We work as one team, and everyone knows their role well."

Regarding Ansu Fati, he said: "The decision regarding his participation has not been finalized yet, but what I can say is that he is currently training at a better level."

Flick stated: "Am I comfortable before facing a team like Dortmund? Certainly not. We must always prove that we are focused 100%. Every match we play is an opportunity to show our strength, and Barcelona's fans deserve to see their team perform at its best."

He praised Deco's efforts, saying: "Deco has done a great job bringing in the best technical and physical staff. We are now at peak physical readiness, and we continuously monitor the players to ensure their condition, and everything is going well."

Regarding his future with the team, Flick said: "I don’t like to think about long-term contracts. I live my moment here; I enjoy life in Barcelona with my wife, and everyone working at the club, from the coaching staff to the players and administrators, deserves respect. We have a wonderful family atmosphere."

He added: "I love this club, and I know the situation is not easy, so I prefer to take it step by step, year by year. What matters to me now is to finish the season in the best possible way."

He stated: "We play a match every 3 to 4 days, so it’s natural to make some changes; we need fresh legs, and this is an essential part of managing the team."

Flick said: "If we win every match, Real Madrid can play as they wish; we must focus on ourselves only."

The German coach commented: "We are in a developmental phase; we started the season with a clear vision, and the players are committed. If you want to become a champion, you have to prove it every week, not just in the big matches."

Flick emphasized the importance of the upcoming match, saying: "We have 8 matches left in La Liga, and Leganés is a team that knows how to defend and attack. They have beaten us before, as well as Atlético Madrid, and they have put up strong performances against Real Madrid. We must treat this match as if it were a Champions League match."

He concluded his statements regarding Dani Olmo: "He will not participate in the match; it is better for him to stay in Barcelona and train over the next two days."
