Biserra Talks About Zamalek's Exit from the Confederation
Jose Biserra, the coach of Zamalek, spoke about his team's exit from the African Confederation Cup after losing to Stellenbosch 1-0 in the second leg of the quarter-finals.
The first leg of the quarter-finals ended in a goalless draw 0-0.
Biserra said in the press conference after the match that Stellenbosch created one opportunity in today's match and managed to score it, while Zamalek created several chances but failed to capitalize on them, which happens in football.
He continued: "The opponent defended throughout the match, and Stellenbosch is good at set pieces and only posed a threat with one ball."
He added: "Of course, I am sad, and all the players are sad about the loss, and the team does not deserve this result. Zamalek was better in the first half, but there was a problem with the final touch, and we did not convert the chances that came our way. The performance changed in the second half, and Zamalek lost balance after Stellenbosch scored the leading goal, and this is football."
He continued: "Ahmed Mostafa Zizo did not participate, and everyone knows what happened with the player, and I want to talk only about the match."
He added: "Zamalek trained in the past few days on the 4-3-3 formation, and I saw it as the best option for today's match. We did not deserve to lose today, and we did not convert the chances that came our way in the match."
Biserra said: "Changing the formation was the reason for not fielding Salah Musadak, and Mahmoud Bentaij did not start today because he did not participate in the first leg due to not traveling. Ahmed Fattouh performed well in the first match, so he participated in today's match."
He continued: "It is natural for the fans to be sad because they love to win continuously, and this is football. We must look ahead and have wisdom."
Biserra added: "I do not blame any player for Stellenbosch's goal. All the players exerted their utmost effort, and I believe there is no shortcoming from any player. The goal could have been handled better, but this is football, and no one expected Stellenbosch to score a goal today while Zamalek controlled the proceedings."
He concluded: "Zamalek will fight in the league, and we aim to win the next match."
