Inzaghi: We Know the Strength of Bayern Munich, but We Came to Win
Simone Inzaghi, the head coach of Inter Milan, confirmed that his team is preparing for a tough match against Bayern Munich in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, noting that the Bavarian club, alongside Real Madrid, are the favorites to win the tournament this season.
Inzaghi said: "It's great to be here in this advanced stage of the competition, we know we will face a very strong opponent in a special stadium, but we have worked hard to reach this stage and we will try to capitalize on our opportunities."
He continued: "We are in good shape despite some absences, which is normal given the pressure of matches, we are satisfied with our progress in the Champions League, Serie A, and the Coppa Italia, the season is long and exhausting, but we are proud of what we have achieved."
He added: "Bastoni and Calhanoglu trained with the team this morning, and we will assess their condition later, while Dimarco continued to work individually, and Lautaro Martinez was supposed to play one half against Parma, but he played 70 minutes and is ready for the match. We are missing Aslani due to suspension, and Correa is not registered in the European list, while the injured players are Zielinski, Dumfries, and Taremi."
He continued: "Despite the absences, Bayern Munich has great experience, they are used to going far in the Champions League, they press hard, and they have great quality. I see them, along with Real Madrid, as the main contenders for the title, but we will not go to Munich for tourism, but to deliver a strong performance."
He concluded his remarks by saying: "We are still in the treble race, we are in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia, competing strongly in the league, and now in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Since I came to Inter, we have not sacrificed any tournament, we always focus on the next match, and we know we represent a great club and we will fight against any opponent."
