Bayern Munich Reveals the Behind-the-Scenes of Thomas Müller's Departure Decision
Max Eberl, the sporting director of Bayern Munich, revealed the behind-the-scenes of the decision to part ways with the historic star Thomas Müller at the end of the current season, after a remarkable career within the walls of the Bavarian club.
Eberl said: "I know we won't receive any applause for this decision, but it wasn't for financial reasons, nor solely for sporting reasons; it is related to the future of Bayern Munich."
He added: "The decision was made collectively by the sporting management, the board of directors, and the supervisory board at the beginning of the year, in order to restructure the team for the future."
The sporting director clarified: "Our relationship with Thomas is very strong, and if he is willing, we welcome him to stay at the club in the future, as we know he is capable of contributing to Bayern Munich."
Eberl confirmed his understanding of the player's feelings, stating: "I understand Müller’s sense of disappointment; he entered the conversation enthusiastically but ultimately felt frustrated."
It is worth mentioning that Thomas Müller joined Bayern Munich in July 2000 and participated in over 700 matches with the first team, becoming the most capped player in the club's history, before announcing his international retirement with the German national team last year after a 14-year international career.
