A French Talent on Real Madrid's Radar

Monday 24-03-2025
Real Madrid continues to search for new reinforcements for its midfield in preparation for the upcoming season, and it seems that French player Ryan Ben Cherki, a star at Olympique Lyon, has become one of the strong candidates to support the royal team's lineup.

Martin Zubimendi, a player from Real Sociedad, was one of the options considered, but there are several reasons that led the club to exclude him. Real Madrid already has players with similar characteristics such as Tchouaméni, Camavinga, and Valverde, making the signing of a new defensive midfielder unnecessary.

Additionally, Zubimendi's buyout clause is set at 60 million euros, an amount that English club Arsenal is willing to pay, while Manchester United is also competing for his signature, making it more challenging to secure him.

In contrast, Ryan Ben Cherki stands out as a more attractive option, being a young 21-year-old, skillful player and playmaker capable of adding to the offensive front. The player has a contract with Olympique Lyon until 2026, and his market value is estimated at around 30 million euros, but his club may ask for more, especially with Paris Saint-Germain showing interest in his services.

Ben Cherki is considered a creative player who can enhance Real Madrid's attacking midfield, aligning with the club's policy of acquiring young talents. Moreover, the presence of French stars in the team such as Mbappé, Mendy, Camavinga, and Tchouaméni may facilitate his quick adaptation.
