Wednesday 19-03-2025
French star Kylian Mbappe, along with France's coach Didier Deschamps, held a press conference on the eve of the match between Croatia and France in the UEFA Nations League, where the captain of the Blues discussed several topics, including the Ballon d'Or, his physical condition, recent criticisms, and the main issues concerning the sports community.

Mbappe said about his personal statistics: "The most important thing is to perform well, score, and achieve victory; my main goal is to help the team, while my statistics don't concern me much."

Regarding his return to the French national team, he said: "It's great to be back with the group; I keep in constant touch with most of my teammates, and sometimes I spend holidays with some of them. Things may seem unclear to the public, but they have been completely clear to me internally."

When asked about the 2026 World Cup and his future with France, he added: "My focus is entirely on the 2026 World Cup; this tournament requires the highest levels of readiness and preparation, and our goal is to return as world champions once again."

On his physical condition, he said: "I feel good and am happy to play with the French national team."

About Ousmane Dembélé, he stated: "Dembélé is a key player; I have always enjoyed playing alongside him, especially given his current level. If he continues to play at the same level with Paris Saint-Germain, we will achieve many victories together; we become more dangerous because we know each other's movements well."

Regarding the Ballon d'Or, he said: "I will ask Luka Modric how to win it."

He commented on the racist attacks against Wesley Fofana, saying: "This is disappointing and sad; unfortunately, nothing changes, but we all stand by him and support him strongly."

On recent criticisms, he said: "I am fully aware of what I do well and what I do not; my performance against Italy was not good, and I accept that."

He continued discussing the tough times in his career: "A professional career is not always stable; there are moments of ups and downs, but the most important thing is to keep going and focus on what makes you happy."

Regarding Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, he said: "I do not seek to be a replacement for them; they simply cannot be replaced."
