Llorente: We were affected by the Champions League match, and we will fight until the end

Atletico Madrid suffered a heavy defeat against Barcelona with a score of 4-2, despite initially leading with two clean goals, during the match held at the Metropolitano Stadium as part of the Spanish league competition.

After the match, Marcos Llorente spoke about the reasons for the downfall against the Catalan team, pointing to the fatigue the team experienced due to the Champions League match earlier in the week.

Llorente began his analysis of the match, explaining how the team lost control after a strong start: "It was a strange match, we had a fantastic first half, we controlled the game and scored two goals, but the impact of the 120 minutes we played in the Champions League was evident on us, the team completely collapsed in the second half, we couldn't stop the crosses, and Barcelona took advantage of that well thanks to their outstanding players in finishing attacks, in the end, we desperately pushed for the equalizer, but they scored the fourth goal."

Llorente expressed his disappointment at Barcelona's quick response after falling behind by two goals: "After we went 2-0 up, they scored their first goal immediately, and that hit us hard, we were controlling the game, but maintaining the lead for just one minute is frustrating, this game relies heavily on the mental aspect, and they pressured us hard, in the end, we were greatly affected by the midweek match, which led to the team's collapse."

Despite the defeat, Llorente confirmed that the team has not lost hope in competing for the Spanish league title: "We will fight until the end, we have seen many cases where everything changed in just one month, performance fluctuates between good and bad, and things can turn around, we will maintain our ambition and will try to come back strongly."
