Deschamps commented on Mbappe's communication with the national team: "I continued to talk to him during his absence from the team and kept supporting him; communication is always very important to me, and he knows well what I expect from him on and off the pitch."

He added: "Mbappe's transfer to Real Madrid has sparked a lot of expectations, but he is still achieving great numbers; the atmosphere there and the players are different from what he had at Paris Saint-Germain."
