UEFA has announced the appointment of French referee Clément Turpin to officiate the anticipated clash between Manchester City and Real Madrid, in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16.

The match is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, March 17, at 10:00 PM Cairo time, at the Etihad Stadium, where Turpin will officiate the match, while Frenchman Jérôme Brisard will be responsible for the Video Assistant Referee technology.

Real Madrid has a relatively positive record with the French referee in the Champions League, having lost only one match with him on the field, which was against Manchester City during the group stage of the current edition, when the English team won at Santiago Bernabéu with a score of 2-1.

Turpin previously officiated a match between the two teams at the Etihad Stadium as well, during the second leg of the knockout stage last season, when Real Madrid managed to secure a 3-2 victory.

The French referee also officiated the Champions League final in the 2021/2022 season, during which Real Madrid claimed the title after defeating Liverpool with a 1-0 victory.

Overall, Turpin has officiated 10 matches for Real Madrid in the Champions League, during which the Spanish team achieved eight victories, one draw, and one loss.

As for Manchester City, the French referee has officiated six matches for them in the Champions League, during which the team achieved three victories, one draw, and two losses.
