FIFA announces the suspension of the Congo federal and Pakistan
Friday 07-02-2025
The International Football Association announced the suspension of the Republic of the Congo and Pakistan, and prevented their teams from participating in international competitions, due to administrative violations that contradict the FIFA regulations.

FIFA decided to suspend the activity of the Congolese Federation due to the intervention of what it described as "the third party" in its affairs, which contradicts the regulations of the International Federation, and FIFA explained that the decision came in consultation with the Confederation of African Football, after sending two missions to Brazzaville.

FIFA emphasized that raising the suspension is conditional on the restoration of the Congolese Union with full control over its headquarters and facilities, and it is reported that the Congo team failed to qualify for the 2025 African Nations Cup, and is fifth in its group in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

As for the Pakistani Federation, it was suspended due to the lack of approval of the amendment of its basic system, which prevented the holding of fair and democratic elections.

FIFA had previously suspended the Federation of Pakistan in 2017 and 2021 due to the intervention of external parties, before the ban was lifted in June 2022 after regaining control of headquarters and financial resources, and FIFA confirmed that the current suspension will not be raised until after the approval of the new statute in cooperation with the AFC.
