About the Team

Benin. The Benin national football team, nicknamed 'The Squirrels', was established in 1962 and joined FIFA in the same year. Since 1969, it has been a member of the African Football Confederation. The team has never qualified for the World Cup, but it has participated in the Africa Cup of Nations three times (2004, 2008, 2010) and four times in 2019, which is when it reached the quarter-finals without achieving any wins in the tournament.
