Discontent among Benin national team after Messi farewell match
Reports have revealed discontent within the Benin national team following their friendly match against Argentina, which marked Lionel Messi's last appearance for his country.
According to journalist Romain Molina, Benin left the event without receiving any financial rewards or a share of the revenues generated from the match, in addition to not being allowed for their players to exchange shirts with the stars of Argentina.
Molina added that the Benin players were also not given the opportunity to take photos with the Argentina national team players, nor were they allowed to enter the home team's dressing room after the match.
The report indicated that this transaction caused significant anger within the Benin delegation, which was present at a special event that witnessed Messi's farewell to international football.
Argentina secured the match with three goals to nil, in an emotional night at the Monumental Stadium in front of over 85,000 spectators, where Lionel Messi scored one goal and assisted two in his final appearance for his national team.
