Renard: The loss is our fault and no one else's fault
Hervé Renard, coach of the Saudi national team, expressed his dissatisfaction with his team's loss to Oman in the semi-finals of the Arabian Gulf Cup.
The Oman national team succeeded in qualifying for the Arabian Gulf Cup final after defeating Saudi Arabia with a score of 2-1.
Reynard said in the press conference after the match: “Exiting from the Gulf 26 semi-finals is disappointing. The loss is our fault, not anyone else’s fault.”
He added: “The first goal was from an incorrect violation, and the referee was not good... And in the second goal we did not defend well, the defense was completely unsuccessful.” We also had some absences.”
Reynard continued: "The players may have felt that progress had become easier after the numerical deficiency in Oman's ranks, but the Omani national team defended well."
Then he continued: “We were supposed to fight harder... We conceded many goals in 4 matches, and it is impossible to achieve the title with a goal that concedes 8 goals.”
He concluded: “We must improve on the defensive level if we want to succeed in the World Cup qualifiers, and not give the opponent this large number of opportunities.”
