Blanes: Last season's choices were not as they should have been
Ramon Blanes, sports director of Ittihad Jeddah Club, spoke about the past stage and the aspirations of the next stage for the first football team with French coach Laurent Blanc.
Blanes said in a video published by the club Al-Ittihad: “As foreigners, we realize the importance and greatness of this club, and it is true that we focused a lot on attracting foreign players.”
He added: “We did not lose sight of attracting local elements.” To strengthen the union, and after we studied the club’s needs, we chose the trio Moaz Faqihi, Saleh Al-Shehri and Abdul-Ilah Al-Omari.”
He continued: “We felt that these are the people the team needs, and they are already performing at excellent levels. This does not mean that the transfer window will be limited to this trio only, as any element will certainly be attracted.” It will benefit the team.”
He continued: “The summer transfer period was exciting, especially after our choices in the previous season. They were not as they should have been; Therefore, we recalculated and realized that there are things that must be changed and improved in the transfer market for foreign players.”
He continued: “We put in our criteria the player’s commitment, challenge, desire, and love. Winning, living in the moment; Therefore, it was important to carefully select the players, and selecting foreign players is not an easy matter at all.”
He concluded: “There are important criteria for selecting them. It is necessary that the player possesses talent. He must also have the right mentality, as talent alone is not enough; So you must come to the federation with the right mentality and one team spirit, otherwise it will be difficult to achieve success here.”
