The Mexico national team defeated its Jamaican counterpart 1-0 in the first round of the group stage of the Copa America.

The only goal of the match was scored by Gerardo Arteaga in the 69th minute.

In the same group, the Ecuadorian team achieved a victory over its Venezuelan counterpart 2-1.
