Andoni Iraola, the manager of Liverpool, expressed his satisfaction with the win his team achieved against Crystal Palace 3-1 in the 10th round of the Premier League at Selhurst Park.

Andoni Iraola said in statements to "Sky Sports": "It was an important win for us before the international break, especially after the week we had. We also arrived very late on Thursday evening coming from Türkiye, and I know they played a match as well, so it was important to finish this period with a victory."

He added: "We struggled a bit defensively during the first half, but we managed the game well after that, although I feel some frustration about the last penalty."

Regarding the importance of the timing of the first goal, he explained: "It was a pivotal moment in the match. We deserved to score from set pieces before this season, and Alexis Mac Allister is good at getting to the ball at the near post. The goal came at a time when both teams were creating chances, and the match was fairly even. Going into the dressing room leading 1-0 was extremely important."

Regarding Florian Wirtz's performance and his goal, he said: "I am very happy with him, and I think he did a great job today. It was a beautiful goal, thanks to Alex Isak's movement that created space behind the defense, along with Bradley's pass. I think it was a wonderful moment, and I am happy for him."

Liverpool's manager spoke about Alisson, saying: "Especially in the first half when the score was still 0-0, he made a fantastic intervention. That was extremely important, as scoring the first goal in such matches makes a difference. He acted brilliantly at that moment."

The manager expressed his anger over a late penalty awarded to Crystal Palace, saying: "I am very upset because the situations that happen inside our penalty area are given as penalties, while the same does not happen in the other area. I know we were leading by three goals and that we reached the 95th minute, but I am very angry."

He continued: "There was an aerial challenge between Osorio and Milos Kerkez, but in the end, it was a head collision. Some might say the score was 3-0, but for me, it’s bigger than that, as it’s not the first time this season, and when you compare the cases, you really feel upset."

"The VAR took a long time. When a penalty is awarded, it takes two minutes, with the replay shown two or three times, as if they are looking for a way not to use the video technology. Keeping a clean sheet in the Premier League is not easy, and we wanted to win by three goals. My objection is not just about this penalty, but about many things."

Regarding the confidence that victory gives the team before the international break, he concluded: "We always want to end the period with a win, as it puts us in a better position, but we must continue to develop and improve. Now we all hope that things go well, because we lost three players during the last international break, and that is the last thing we need right now. I hope the upcoming period goes smoothly and that we don't lose any players this time."
