Wirtz: We were effective in front of goal, and we always play with confidence
The German midfielder Florian Wirtz expressed his happiness at the victory his team achieved, 3-1, over Crystal Palace, confirming that the most important thing is to collect points, after the "Reds" delivered a good collective performance on both offensive and defensive levels.
Wirtz said in statements to "Sky Sports": "It was a good match from our side, I am very happy with the win, and that is all that matters. We were effective in front of goal, and we didn't create a lot of clear chances, or maybe we did, I don't know, but my feeling was that we didn't have many of them, so scoring three goals is always good. We defended well, and the team's collective performance was remarkable."
Regarding the importance of the timing of the first goal, he explained: "The goal was extremely important, especially after their goal was disallowed. It gave us a good morale boost before the break and made the match a bit easier or more open for us. The timing of the goal was perfect."
Regarding his goal in the match, Wirtz revealed: "It was a great pass to Bradley Barcola in the space. The coach talked to us a lot about the need to get into the box, and I think three of us were there. Fortunately, the ball came to me and I was able to score."
Regarding Liverpool's away results, he concluded: "We always play with confidence because we know the quality of the team we have and the quality we possess. It doesn't matter if the match is away from home, but we definitely need to involve more players in the matches we play at home."
