Ibrahim Fayek: Hossam Hassan out of Egypt national team coaching, official announcement tonight
Ibrahim Fayek has sparked widespread debate regarding Hossam Hassan's future with the Egypt national team, after confirming that the decision for the head coach to leave his position has already been made, with an official announcement expected later today.
Fayek wrote on his official Facebook account: "The matter is settled.. The decision has been made and will be announced tonight.. Hossam Hassan will not be the head coach of the Egypt national team."
These statements come amid media reports discussing a direction within the Egyptian Football Association, headed by Hossam Hassan, to end the current coaching staff's mission and thank him in the coming hours.
According to reports, the president of the football association has settled on this decision after discussions within the board, which saw all members approving the proposal, in light of the recent crises that have arisen around the coaching staff and the uncertainty surrounding its future in recent times.
Egypt are looking to finalize their coaching situation ahead of the international break in November, as they prepare to face Malawi in the third and fourth rounds of the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers for 2027.
Hossam Hassan took over as the coach of the Egypt national team in February 2024, leading the Pharaohs to the Semi-Final of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025, before finishing the tournament in fourth place.
During his tenure, the Egyptian national team achieved its first victory in FIFA World Cup history, defeating New Zealand in the latest edition of the tournament, while also reaching the Round of 16.
Egyptian fans are eagerly anticipating the official announcement in the coming hours to determine Hossam Hassan's future and identify the coach who will take charge of the national team in the next phase.
