Al-Dawsari's absence gives Kanno an exceptional number with the Green
Mohamed Kanno, the midfielder of Al Hilal, tops the list of most international appearances among the Saudi national team players present in the ongoing November camp, after coach Georgios Donis included him in the final squad for the Green.
Mohamed Kanno has moved up in the rankings with Salem Al-Dawsari, the star of Al Hilal, absent from the camp due to injury, despite being at the top of the list of current generation players with the most appearances for the national team.
Mohamed Kanno has reached 83 international matches with the Saudi national team, becoming the player with the highest number among the current squad. Feras Al-Buraikan, the Al Ahly FC striker, is in second place with 79 matches.
In another context, the Saudi Arabian Football Federation announced on Thursday the cancellation of the national team's training camp, which was scheduled to be held in Khobar from December 21, 2026, to January 3, 2027.
The federation clarified in an official statement that the decision came after the announcement by the Asian Football Confederation to reschedule the AFC Asian Cup 2027, which was originally set to take place between January 7 and February 5 of the same year.
The Saudi Federation added that it has also decided to cancel the two friendly matches against Qatar and Jordan, scheduled for December 27, 2026, and January 2, 2027, after coordination with the Qatari and Jordanian federations.
The cancelled camp was set to be the final stage in Saudi Arabia's preparations for the AFC Asian Cup 2027, before the new changes to the tournament's schedule led to its cancellation.
