Amorim: We must forget the derby win and focus on facing Ferencváros to maintain consistency
Rubén Amorim, the Portuguese manager of AC Milan, emphasized the need to move past the victory in the Derby della Madonnina against Inter and focus on the upcoming match against Ferencváros, scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, in the UEFA Europa League. He stressed the importance of maintaining consistency in performance and results.
Amorim said in statements to Italian network "Sky Sport": "When you win important matches, you have strong feelings, but it is also important to forget those feelings and use them in training to prepare. Football goes day by day, and we have another match tomorrow in which we want to prove ourselves."
He added regarding the match against the Hungarian team: "They have achieved many victories so far, and they know how to handle this type of match. It is a crucial match in our UEFA Europa League campaign, and we must make the most of it."
The Portuguese coach commented on the rotation policy and maintaining the team's level: "The secret to winning all competitions is involving everyone, and every player must be ready. We need to make changes while maintaining continuity, and be more effective, paying attention to offensive transitions and set pieces. We have not always been at the required level."
After the victory over Inter, Amorim stated: "The derby is in the past, and we must be able to defend well tomorrow as well. Our ability to retain possession helped us, as we adapted well to playing on the flanks, and we showed aggression when we did not have the ball."
In discussing the development of player Diawara, Amorim praised the work of the scouting department, the player's teammates, and the coaching staff, explaining that his signing involved some risk due to his previous experience being limited to the French second division, but he exceeded their expectations thanks to his work and development.
Amorim concluded his remarks by asserting that AC Milan cannot consider victory guaranteed against any opponent, stating: "We are a team that can win or lose against any opponent, as currently all players possess the knowledge, skills, and capabilities necessary to prepare for any team."
