Enrique admits surprise after Paris win 6-0 against Villarreal
Luis Enrique, the Spanish manager of Paris Saint-Germain, expressed his astonishment at the scale of the victory his team achieved against Villarreal, winning 6-0 in the UEFA Champions League. He emphasized that the performance his players delivered and the recorded result exceeded his expectations before the match.
Paris Saint-Germain entered the match with great confidence, having started their campaign in the tournament with three consecutive victories. They are aiming for a fourth win to strengthen their chances of finishing the league stage in the top eight, thus avoiding the playoff for the next round.
In his interview with Canal+, Luis Enrique expressed his admiration for what his players delivered, saying: "I did not expect that. There are matches that start this way; we delivered an impressive performance throughout the game. We succeeded in regaining possession many times, and we were effective in front of goal."
Luis Enrique has stated that the criticisms aimed at the team after the first three rounds, due to concerns about a decline in performance, did not lead to a loss of confidence in their work. He emphasized that the evaluation of achievements and discussions about titles should take place at the end of the season.
The Spanish coach has given special praise to young player Poli, confirming his continuous development since he received some minutes with the team last season, expressing his happiness with the level he is currently showing.
Paris Saint-Germain are set to continue their journey in the UEFA Champions League as they host AS Roma on November 25.
