Lille continues points drop in UEFA Champions League with goalless draw against Bodo/Glimt
Lille continue to struggle for victories in the UEFA Champions League after drawing 0-0 against their hosts Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday, in the fourth round of the league stage for the 2026-2027 season, missing a valuable opportunity to improve their position in the standings.
The French team entered the match with high spirits after their victory over RC Lens by a goal to nil in the Al-Shamal derby last Friday. They applied early pressure on the home side, taking advantage of their retreat to defensive areas, but lacked the necessary effectiveness to translate their superiority into goals.
Diouni was the first to threaten the Norwegian team's goal in the 8th minute, before Dilane Bakwa came close to opening the scoring after receiving a pass from a teammate inside the right side of the penalty area, and struck a low shot with his left foot, but goalkeeper Nikita Haikin brilliantly saved it.
Lille maintained their tactical discipline and limited the threat from Bodo/Glimt, who struggled to reach dangerous areas. However, a lack of precision in the final touch deprived the French team of capitalizing on their control, ending the first half without goals.
Bodø/Glimt threaten in the second half as Lille lose control.
The dynamics of the match changed after the break, as Lille tried to exploit the spaces behind their opponent's defense, which had pushed up compared to the first half. However, the attempts from Djaïli, Bakwa, and Haraldsson did not reach the required level of danger, amid continued missed opportunities.
On the other hand, Bodo/Glimt began to show more attacking intent and nearly opened the scoring in the 59th minute when Jens Petter Hauge bypassed his defender and sent a powerful cross towards the striker, but goalkeeper Berke Özer intervened at the right moment and saved his goal from a certain goal.
As the match approached its end, Lille's players' physical performance declined, losing control of the ball, which gave the Norwegian team the opportunity to intensify their pressure and search for a goal to settle the encounter.
Despite late attempts from the hosts, Ozer managed to keep a clean sheet, resulting in a goalless draw. This result did not meet the ambitions of both teams; Lille failed to secure the victory they needed to correct their course in the competition, while Bodø/Glimt squandered the opportunity to take advantage of home ground and crowd support to achieve three points.
