Camavinga: I went through a tough and harsh period, and Vinícius didn't think about leaving
Frenchman Eduardo Camavinga, a player for Real Madrid, appeared at a press conference to discuss his team's anticipated match against AEK Athens, scheduled for tomorrow as part of the fourth round of the group stage in the UEFA Champions League.
Eduardo Camavinga has spoken about the criticism he faced, especially after the match against Bayern Munich last season, saying: "The first thing I learned is not to listen to everything you say. The worst part is when things are said that may touch my family. A football player must always think of himself, and that is what I did. You should not doubt your abilities because of the criticism others direct at you; instead, you must keep working and deliver your best level."
Regarding the atmosphere in the dressing room after two difficult seasons, and his relationship with Mourinho, he explained: "Our relationship has always been good, and we have always been a united team. But when the results are not good, you think there is a problem in the dressing room, and that is just your perspective."
The French player spoke about what impressed him most about Mourinho, saying: "He is a very nice person and a great coach with a rich history. We learn a lot from him every day, especially regarding the mentality we need to have on the pitch."
Eduardo Camavinga revealed the key changes he made during the summer, adding: "I went back to studying, and it was a completely different experience. I worked on things I don't usually do, like discipline, and I started arriving at training two or three hours early to work in the gym. My mentality has also changed, and I have become more mature."
Regarding his appearance against Barcelona in El Clásico, and the moment he shared with Kylian Mbappé before scoring, and whether it was a response to what happened against Bayern Munich, he said: "I had enough time to think about it during the summer, it was painful for me. It wasn't about revenge; I work every day to deliver such moments on the pitch. What I did against Barcelona will be forgotten, and I will have to continue to deliver the same level in other matches."
Eduardo Camavinga spoke about the difficult period he experienced during the summer, amidst the doubts raised about his future with the royal club, saying: "It was a tough and challenging time for me. But I believe that negative things always carry positive lessons I can learn from. I worked hard during the summer, and I have become a new man, with greater discipline than before. I am working to repay the trust the club has placed in me, and I have thought a lot about the areas I needed to improve. I spoke with the coach, and he gave me great confidence."
Addressing rumors about Vinícius's departure last summer, he said: "He is a supporter of Real Madrid, and his heart has been white since he was young. It has never crossed my mind that he wants to leave."
Camavinga also praised his teammate Bernardo Silva and his role in improving the midfield performance, saying: "Bernardo is a very good player, he gives us a lot of possession and helps us a lot in bringing the ball out from the back. He has provided us with great support; he is a wonderful player, and great players always help the team."
Regarding the current situation of the team, he confirmed: "Every match has its own circumstances, but our task is to win all the matches. We started the season well, and we must continue to work in the same way and achieve victories to boost our confidence."
Eduardo Camavinga concluded the press conference with a message of condolence to the family of Jesús de Miguel, who passed away today after being injured in his team's match yesterday, saying: "Before we start, I wanted to express my sincere condolences to the family of Jesús de Miguel."
