Reason for no punishment on Chico Banza after shorts removal

Taha Ezzat, head of the competitions committee in the clubs association, explained the reasons behind not imposing any penalty on Angolan Chico Banza, the striker of Zamalek SC, following the events of his team's match against El Mokawloon SC, where Banza celebrated after the match by removing his shirt and shorts.

Izzat said on Sada El Balad channel: "Chico Banza's incident with the shorts happened at the end of the match. When we punish any player, we must rely on one of three things: the first is the official match tape, which is recognized in most competitions around the world. If any player is punished based on video clips outside the match tape in previous years, that is not my concern because I was not present at that time in the competitions committee, so it should not be compared to the current incident."

He added: "We may also rely on the referee's report or the observer's report for player sanctions, but Chico Banza's incident occurred after 10 minutes or a quarter of an hour into the match, and therefore the referee and the observer had left the pitch and the television broadcast had ended, so there is no official document to rely on, and I am not the authority responsible for examining external videos."

He added: "If any team or entity submits a complaint against a player who committed an offense that did not appear in the official footage and was not reported by the referee or the observer, then it is my right as the Competitions Committee to refer him to the Disciplinary Committee."

He added: "Anything Hossam Hassan requested from us as the Clubs Association has been implemented 99.9%. As the Clubs Association, we are responsible for the league and the Egypt Cup, and the last match in the capital cup will be on November 4, then the matches of the Egypt Cup organized by the Football Association will take place. Therefore, I believe that the Football Association has contacted Hossam Hassan to schedule the matches for that date."
